The importance of social support networks for new parents has been well-documented and can help to improve parents' self-esteem, confidence, stress levels and ability to access further support.
There are many different and varied groups available that focus on engaging and stimulating babies. Our perinatal peer support groups offer 90 minutes of focus on Mums. Connecting with other new Mums, sharing stories and advice, supporting and nurturing each other and making friends. Time is spent focusing on Mums’ healing and their personal experiences of the ‘Fourth Trimester’ and, at the end of the session, we learn and sing action songs with our babies.

Our groups are small, inclusive, friendly and non-judgemental. They are facilitated by Sarah, our Perinatal Coordinator, and trained volunteers, who are on hand to listen, offer support or signpost to other sources when needed. We provide toys for babies and refreshments for Mum too. They are free to attend and Mums can just drop-in with their babies from birth until they become mobile.
"Home Start is absolutely amazing and I don't know where I'd be without it. The support and love they have given me and my children is absolutely incredible."
